Partyline -- Keshubhai claim


AHMEDABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel on Thursday said the new Rashtriya Janata Party Chief Minister Dilip Parikh would fail to get confidence vote in the state Assembly on November 13 because of infighting both within the RJP and Congress. Parikh, who replaced his mentor Shankersinh Vaghela as chief minister on October 28 following Congress demand for Vaghela's resignation for alleged corrupt practices, was asked by Governor Krishanpal Singh to seek a trust vote by Thursday next.

Orissa JD

BHUBANESWAR: The senior BJP leader, Kailash Pati Mishra said on Thursday that any formal request from Janata Dal leaders of Orissa for joining his party would be considered by the Central leadership of BJP on merit. But so far no concrete proposal had come from any state Janata Dal leader, he told a news conference here.

Demand

ITANAGAR: The ruling Arunachal Congress on Thursday demanded increase in Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Assembly seats from the state. Though the state had a relatively small electorate, it encompassed a huge geographical area. Only two Lok Sabha seats were not adequate to raise the problems of the state in Parliament, the Arunachal Congress said in a memorandm submitted to Election Commissioner G V G Krishnamurty.

APCC flays BJP

HYDERABAD: ANDHRA Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) leaders on Thursday alleged that Kalyan Singh Government had resorted to direct horsetrading in Uttar Pradesh to retain power. The APCC leaders ridiculed the claim of BJP being `righteous and clean' and said entire nation was a witness to the `ugly and unsavoury' incidents in Uttar Pradesh Assembly last month.
