Vaghela launches RJP unit in Maharashtra

[Details] Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankar Sinh Vaghela, who officially launched the Rashtriya Janata Party in Maharashtra on Friday, invited Congress members to join his party. Vaghela inducted four disgruntled members of the Bharatiya Janata Party into his fold and organised them into a convenors' committee to look into party affairs in Mumbai and the state.

Babri judge warns accused for not appearing in court

[Details] Framing of charges against those accused in the Babri Masjid case, including top leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, was deferred once again by the special session judge (Ayodhya episode) as 44 of the total 49 accused failed to appear in the court. The judge has fixed December 10 as the next date for the hearing.

Court verdict boosts Cong in sugar war

[Details] In the ongoing saga of the sugar war between the Congress and the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance, the former appears to have knocked up a victory for itself with a recent High Court judgement. The judgement decreed that the appeal on a case regarding the Chhatrapati Rajaram Co-operative sugar factory in Kolhapur be decided within a month, instead of the nine months sought by the State Government.
