Tyre exports up 24% in H1

NEW DELHI, Nov 23: India's tyre exports increased by 24 per cent in volume and 13.6 per cent in value during the first half of the current fiscal compared to the same period last year, the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) has said. Tyre exports from the country during April-September has been estimated to be 10.42 lakh valued at Rs 368.72 crore against 8.41 lakh tyres worth Rs 324.53 crore last year, the association said. Shipment of truck and bus tyres, which make up the backbone of the tyre industry in India, comprised three-fourths of the total exports. A total of 7.83 lakh truck and bus tyres were exported.
