[Details] Dunlop India yesterday announced the appointment of P J Rao as its new managing director. The Manu Chhabria owned tyremaker said its board had cleared Rao's appointment at a meeting on Saturday. Rao has been looking after day-to-day affairs at Dunlop for the last several months as a member of the interim committee of directors.

Saw Pipes may buy plate mill in US

[Details] Saw Pipes, a part of the Jindal group, is all set to go ahead with its second overseas acquisition in the US. The company is acquiring a one million tonne plate mill facility at Baytown, Texas from US Steel Corporation. The plate mill facility is reportedly a part of the company's backward integration plans.

Turner Morrison calls for J&N chief ouster

[Details] The wrangle relating to the rights issue of paint maker Jenson and Nicholson (I) (J&N), has taken a new turn with one of its shareholders, Turner Morrison group asking the company law board (CLB) to appoint an independent chairman and a new auditor to protect the interest of the minority share holders. The petitioner, engaged in investment and trading, alleged that J&N's cancellation of the rights issue was against the law under section 100 of the Companies Act, 1956.
