NEW DELHI, October 22: Shri Ram School defeated St Columba's School `B' 2-0 to enter the final of the CSKM all-India inter-school tennis tournament here today. In the other semi-finals, Modern School (Vasant Vihar) failed to capitalise on a winning start as they tied 1-1 against St Xavier's School in a thrilling game. The winner of their match will set up a showdown in the final against Shri Ram School tomorrow.Shri Ram School's Shravan Gupta played some sizzling shots to take the first game against Druv in less than 30 minutes at 6-1. Continuing in the same form, Gupta demolished Druv in the second allowing his opponent one more game for a 61-, 6-2 verdict.
In the other match, Sahil Vasudev had little difficulty in putting across his St Columba's opponent Aditya Sood 6-1, 6-2 in less than one hour. Vasudev took control of the game quite early as he served and returned well hitting some breathtaking winners. On the the hand, Sood was ill at ease and found his service not working well.
In the other semi-final, Shravan Mittal gave a winning start for Modern School with an excellent game as he defeated Aditya Sharma 6-2, 7-6 (7-2). Mittal won the first game rather easily but found the going tough in the second before he won it in a tiebreaker. But it was nullified when Abhinav Grover lost to St Xavier's Anmol 6-4, 5-7, 4-6. The decider could not be held because of the fading light.
Earlier, in the quarter-finals, St Columbas defeated CSKM Public School `A' 2-0 with Dhruv defeating K. Pegu 63-, 6-2 and Aditya Sood downing Raghvendra Jaiman 6-7 (4-7), 6-2, 6-4.
