Spy going aggro

Quantum Of Solace continues the adventures of James Bond (Daniel Craig) from Casino Royale. Betrayed by Vesper, the woman he loved, Agent 007 fights the urge to make his mission personal.

Bond and M (Judi Dench) interrogate White (Jesper Christensen) who reveals the organisation, which blackmailed Vesper, is more dangerous than anyone had imagined. Just then forensic intelligence links an MI6 traitor to a bank account in Haiti and a case of mistaken identity introduces Bond to the beautiful Camille (Olga Kurylenko), a woman who has her own vendetta. Camille leads Bond to Dominic Greene (Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless businessman and a major force within the mysterious organisation.

A persistent and meddling Bond discovers that Greene is conspiring with an exiled General Medrano (Joaquín Cosio) to create upheaval in Bolivia. Bond allies with old friends in a battle to uncover the truth.

“I think the studio wanted to bring more of an emotional component to the movie. And they wanted to have the franchise go in a different direction. Last time, they took a risk with having Daniel Craig in the film. That was a success, so this time they felt they could take it another step and see how it goes with another filmmaker.

The emotional quotient of the film comes from the fact that Agent 007 is still getting the hang of being an international spy, plus he has just lost the woman he loves.

I have not done any action films prior to Quantum Of Solace. But I must say doing all those action scenes wasn’t a tough cookie to crack. You do the basics and things fall into place.

Casino Royale was a huge success and it was critically acclaimed. That meant that if my film fell short in any respect it would be deemed a failure. But, the moment I met Daniel Craig and the rest of the cast I was assured that the team would work to make this film a success. I hope we can satisfy James Bond fans and carry on the good work.”
